YORK City Knights have announced Brad Hey has become the 17th player to commit to the squad for the 2020 Betfred Championship campaign.

Comfortable in the centres and the back row, the 25-year-old is one of the Knights' longest-serving players, having joined from Batley Bulldogs in 2015.

He has scored 21 tries in 90 games for the Knights since then, including two tries in 22 games in the Championship last season.

Knights head coach James Ford said: “Brad has continuously displayed a fantastic attitude towards his and the team's development.

"His commitment and professionalism are of the highest levels and we’re delighted we’ll be getting to coach Brad for at least another season.

“He regularly makes great metres for the team in exit and he’s a very hard-working defender.

"I’m confident he has the ability and drive to continue his progression.”

Hey added: “I was more than happy to sign again. It's a great group of players and coaches to be involved with and things are looking more promising for the club as a whole.

“We will be more determined to improve on last season and I want to be part of that next chapter.”

The 16 other players currently signed on for 2020 are Joe Porter, Sam Scott, Jack Teanby, Jason Bass, Connor Robinson, Kriss Brining, Matty Marsh, Perry Whiteley, Ronan Dixon, Will Jubb, Jordan Baldwinson, Danny Washbrook, Chris Clarkson, James Green, Ben Johnston and Will Sharp.
