YORK City Knights’ recruitment drive has continued with the signing of experienced back Will Sharp.

Sharp, 33, can play as either a winger or a full-back and joins from Halifax where he played 102 times, scoring 30 tries.

He quickly became a fans’ favourite at Fax, winning the club’s ‘Star Man’ award in 2017 and earning praise for his finishing and kick-takes.

The Nigeria-born back has Super League experience from his time with Harlequins and Hull FC and has also played for Featherstone.

Sharp becomes York’s fifth addition for 2020 following Danny Washbrook, Chris Clarkson, Ben Johnston and James Green.

Knights head coach James Ford said: “I’m pleased to sign Will. He’s a big athletic lad who will bring strike power and experience to our edges.

“He’s played plenty of Championship rugby and there’s versatility to his game too, providing cover at full-back if needed.

“He’s still keen to improve even at this stage of his career which is a big positive for me and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
