THE vast majority of Yorkshire’s senior squad have entered into Sunday’s draft for The Hundred.

Captain Steve Patterson, Gary Ballance, Tim Bresnan, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Adam Lyth and Duanne Olivier, along with a host of team-mates, have put themselves in the unreserved bracket.

A total of 570 players, both overseas and domestic, have entered into the draft and will go in front of selectors from Emerald Headingley-based Northern Superchargers and seven other teams from across the country.

Players have been put into five separate categories; £100K-£125K, £60K-£75K, £50K, £40K and No Reserve.

Those players with a price figure on them can go for a higher price but not less.

Joe Root (Trent Rockets), Jonny Bairstow (Welsh Fire), David Willey and Adil Rashid (Northern Superchargers) have already been assigned to teams and will not go in Sunday’s draft, which will be televised or streamed by Sky and the BBC at 7pm.

All other Yorkshire players are in the unreserved bracket.

Former White Rose overseas duo Mitchell Starc and Kane Williamson are top-priced, while Keshav Maharaj and Nicholas Pooran are also up for selection alongside other players such as Chris Gayle, Rashid Khan, Steve Smith and David Warner.

Young gun Tom Loten will not be in the draft.

“I think it’s going to be a great tournament and is one that a lot of people will have to keep an open mind about because it is different and new,” said England Test captain Root.

“But it could add to the other formats. I really do believe that.

“It could add a new, different way of thinking and a different way of looking at the game. It could improve even the County Championship and Test cricket.

“There’s going to be some great players playing in it, and I’m really looking forward to it.

“But I’m not looking forward to being in the away dressing room at Headingley though. It will (be weird).”

Teams will choose 12 players on the night with a maximum of three overseas picks. They will be added to the already selected England and local icon players.

The order for the draft has already been determined, with Root’s Trent Rockets gaining first pick in the first round but last pick in the second round in a system called a snake draft.

Sunday’s draft will only involve men’s players, with players for the women’s competition chosen in a more conventional fashion.

Former Yorkshire spinners Azeem Rafiq and Karl Carver will also be up for selection along with a number of other players without county contracts.

The Hundred is the new 100-ball competition run by the ECB comprising eight teams who will play 32 league games during the tournament, with the top three going into the finals day.

Each team has a men's and ladies' side and is made up of 15 players, who will be picked during this draft. There is a maximum of three overseas players allowed per team.
