YORK City Knights have entered into a dual-registration partnership with Betfred Super League club Castleford Tigers for the 2020 Betfred Championship season.

It is the third time that the Knights have linked up with the Tigers, after similar agreements in 2012 and from 2014 to 2015 that saw players such as John Davies, Ben Johnston and Ben Reynolds emerge on to the rugby league scene.

As part of the agreement with the Tigers, York's coaching staff will now be able to utilise players from Cas’s full-time environment when they are not selected for Daryl Powell’s side, providing developing players with further valuable game time for 202, in addition to the under-18s and reserves set-ups.

York last used dual-registration in 2018 when they were partnered with Hull KR during their successful Betfred League One title-winning season.

Castleford director of Rugby Jon Wells said: “We are delighted to enter into a dual registration partnership with the York City Knights for the 2020 season.

“With this partnership and the return of the reserve-grade system for next season we can ensure playing opportunities right across all ages and experience levels.

“The two clubs will work closely with one another and we feel this will be a benefit to both.”

Knights head coach James Ford said: “It’s a positive step for us to link up with Castleford.

"I’m confident we can build an excellent relationship where both clubs benefit on and off the field."

Meanwhile, season tickets for 2020, memberships and tickets for the Knights Gala Dinner at York Racecourse on Saturday, October 19 are all available now. Tickets can be booked by emailing Zillah Ingledew at z.ingledew@yorkcityknights.com, or phone 01904 876850 for further details.
