CITY of York Hockey Club Men I went down to their third defeat of the season, losing 5-1 at University of Durham II.

The Minster city side are, however, off the foot of the North League premier division table, courtesy of a marginally better goal difference than Formby.

Rupert Bayliss was York's sole goalscorer.

City of York II lost out 2-1 to table-toppers Leeds IV side in east division three.

Play was evenly balanced for the earlier part of the first half before Leeds broke the deadlock, then went 2-0 up from a short corner routine in the second half. Jack Allerton netted the consolation.

City of York III won their third from three Yorkshire League premier division games, winning 5-3 at Leeds V. The goals came from man-of-the-match Russell Bowry, captain Joel Wilson, James Harrison (2) and Patrick Herriott.

Rob Prentice was City of York IV's only scorer in a 6-1 defeat at home to Halifax in the premier division.

City of York V won 3-0 at home to Lindum III in division two. John Guest and Rob Prentice (2) were on target to give York their first win of term.

Division four north leaders City of York VI thumped basement side Ben Rhydding V 6-0. Laurence Thornton (2), John Barrett, Paul Rowntree (2) and Henry Cadogan scored.

City of York VII lost 2-1 to Ben Rhydding IV in division four north. Finn Baqai was on target.

In similar style to the third team, City of York VIII made it three wins from three in division five north with a 5-3 victory at Leeds VIII. Tony Brimble (2), David Buckingham (2) and Neil Reader were the scorers.

City of York IX were edged out 3-2 at home to Halifax IV in division five north. Andy Forman got both York goals.

Rufus Wordsworth (4) was on top goalscoring form to help City of York X see off Bradford IV in Men's Development north division. Millie Lofthouse got the other.

City of York Ladies I earned their first win of the North Women's League division one season with a 3-2 victory at Wilmslow.

York started strongly and some well-worked routines resulted in frustrating near misses for the visitors - but the frustration lasted only until Amy Birch deflected in the opener.

Faye Garland added the second before a defensive communication breakdown saw the Cheshire side pull one back from a short corner.

Lily Rowntree slotted in the third and York maintained their composure to see out the game, despite Wilmslow scoring a second.

City of York Ladies II secured all six points over a Yorkshire Women's League premier division double-header weekend, beating Hull University I 4-2 and Leeds University III 1-0. Goalscorers against Hull were Vanessa Bond, Fay Chapman and Vicky Skilton (2). Chapman netted again at Leeds.

City of York Ladies III won 3-0 at Lindum II in the premier division thanks to goals from Rebecca McSparron, Will Linden and Steph Pearson.

Division two basement side City of York Ladies IV lost 4-0 at Canalside Terriers.

Top of division five north, City of York Ladies V lost their first of the season, going down 2-1 at home to Selby II. Holly Clayden got York's goal.

Jenny Shaw, Rebecca Donavon and Anwen Hughes all scored to give division five north outfit City of York Ladies VI a 3-3 draw at Thirsk IV.
