HISTORY-MAKING York boxer Paris Smith has received a call up for the England squad which travels to Ukraine next month.

In August, Paris made history by becoming the first boxer from York to represent England at such a prestigious amateur tournament, the European schoolgirls championships.

And the 13-year-old came back from Georgia with a gold medal after a devastating first-round stoppage of Ukraine's Olha Pylypchuk in the semi-final before boxing to a classy points verdict over Ava Henry Lyndon of Ireland.

In November, Paris will return to meet up with her international coaches for a seven-day trip to Ukraine where the fighters will compete in sparring against their Eastern European counterparts.

The York boxer, who fights out of Legions ABC in Clifton Moor, has also had her next competitive bout confirmed.

She will travel to Hull to face the Tri-Nations gold medallist Maddison Adkin on Friday, October 25.

After that, Paris will travel to Portugal in December for the Odivelas Box Cup in Lisbon alongside Legions gym-mates Brad Casey and Zachary Evans.
