YORK City Knights have announced that first-team manager Will Leatt will take up the role as community coach of the club’s Foundation.

Leatt takes up a role coaching in schools as well as leading on the Foundation’s York College Knights and York St John Knights Academy programmes.

An article on the York City Knights website said: “Will has excellent experience in working with these groups and will be a fantastic asset in developing players and providing an outstanding player pathway experience for both males and females.

“The appointment of Will shows the level of commitment the Knights have to developing players and we urge any male or female students at York College or York St John University to seek out the opportunities to join the Rugby League teams and reach their playing potential.”

Adam Prentis, the club’s delivery manager, said: “We are incredibly proud of the reputation we have developed across the area and we are sure that Will’s appointment will give the work of the Foundation another boost.

“He is a very knowledgeable coach with a fantastic level of experience and will, I am sure, create successful programmes at both York College and York St John University that will enhance our work even further.”

Leatt added: “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to work with York College Knights and York St John University as well as joining the Foundation team.

“I’m really passionate about sport in York – especially Rugby League – and feel honoured that I’ll get to play a big part in the development of young players and athletes in the city.

“I’m really looking forward to testing and developing my coaching skills.”
