TADCASTER Albion suffered a knockout blow in Tuesday night's FA Cup replay, losing 4-2 at Ashton United, writes John Clothier.

Defender Ioan Evans scored for the third time in as many games to put the Brewers in front but they could not prevent the higher-tier Robins going through to the second qualifying round.

Aaron Smith volleyed in the hosts' equaliser on 45 minutes and then put them ahead eight minutes after the restart before Alex Wiles tucked in Taddy's second.

But Josh Wilson edged Ashton ahead again on 68 minutes and Steven Tames embellished the scoreline with a late tap-in.

With Michael Ingham, Jake Day, Kain Rogerson and Lebrun Mbeka all in Taddy's starting line-up, this was anyone's game, though the tide turned in Ashton's favour late on.

Pickering Town are off the mark in the Northern Premier League north/west division following a 3-2 win over Mossley at Mill Lane.

A recent recruit from North Yorkshire rivals Scarborough Athletic, Flynn McNaughton scored a brace to help his new side to the first win of term and off the bottom of the table.

George Bissett added a third in the 67th minute, shortly after Max Leonard had pulled one back for the visitors.

Adam Jones' 89th-minute volley made for a nervy finish.
