YORK'S newest professional boxer George Davey has had opponent named for his professional debut next.

The super welterweight will make his bow in the paid ranks on the undercard to Josh Warrington's IBF world featherweight title defence against Sofiane Takoucht at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on October 12.

It follows on from a successful career in the amateurs where he won international titles and two Haringey Box Cups.

As he now steps up into the professional ring, Davey will firstly face of against Lithuania's Zygimantas Butkevicius.

The 26-year-old has had 26 fights, winning just two and losing 24, three by knockout.

Butkevicius - who is based in Hull - has shared the ring with various undefeated prospects and last won back in May against Derby's Phil Wright, who, like Davey, was making his professional debut.
