POPPLETON Bowls Club have retained the Tockwith Bowls League Knockout Trophy after beating The Retreat in the final.
The Main Street-based side kept their grip on the trophy for a second year after winning a hard-fought final.
The final was hosted by Bishopthorpe, who were praised for providing "an excellent green and hospitality".
Poppleton captain John Sandle hailed the Tockwith League, which has a strong emphasis on fun and friendly participation in competitive bowls.
He said: "At Poppleton we welcome players of all abilities and the Tockwith League is the perfect league for players to enjoy competitive bowls in a relaxed and enjoyable environment."
