TABLE-TOPPERS York City maintained their unbeaten start to the National League North season with a 2-0 win over Leamington on Saturday.

Left-sided wing-back David Ferguson was named the official man of the match, while The Press picked out Kallum Griffiths on the opposite flank as the star man.

Both were deserving candidates of the title. The rampaging pair notched assists for both goals and were a nightmare for the visiting full-backs.

Ferguson crossed onto Alex Kempster's head for the opener and Griffiths whipped a delightful ball to the near post for Jordan Burrow to hammer in for the second.

But it was a solid display all-round - as lauded by manager Steve Watson - and there were a number of viable candidates.

Kieran Green was useful up top, pressing to relaunch attacks at the turnover and he came close to a headed goal assisted by Sean Newton, who himself had a composed afternoon at the back.

And, of course, there were the two goalscorers, who both netted their second of the season, while Peter Jameson kept a fourth consecutive clean sheet.
