CONFIDENT fans are tipping York City to challenge for top spot in Vanarama National League North this season.

Almost half of supporters responding to our online poll believe the Minstermen will make a triumphant return to the National League as champions.

A top place finish was predicted by 46 per cent of voters in the fans’ poll, which ran over the weekend.

Some 40 per cent of supporters backed Steve Watson’s men to secure a play-off berth.

A top-half finish was predicted by 10 per cent of respondents, with two per cent selecting a bottom half finish and two per cent saying the season would end in relegation.

Having opened the campaign with a 3-1 win at Altrincham on Saturday, the Minstermen host Farsley Celtic at Bootham Crescent tonight (7.45pm).
