DEFENDER Tom Allan is hoping to have made a pre-season impression on York City manager Steve Watson.
The 24-year-old captained the Minstermen in their final friendly on Tuesday - a 4-2 victory over Pickering Town at the Recreation Ground.
Having been loaned out to Alfreton Town last season, York-born Allan is hoping to cement a place in the first team at Bootham Crescent this season.
The Minstermen kick-off their Vanarama National League North campaign with a trip to Altrincham on Saturday and Allan said: "I’m enjoying my pre-season.
"Last pre-season I got injured in the first game and it set me back six weeks. Now I have played most games feeling fit and sharp."
Allan, who on Saturday will serve a one-match suspension hanging over from last season at Alfreton, added: “Now the manager has seen me all pre-season, so hopefully I’m in his plans.”
On Tuesday's come-from-behind win, Allan said: “It was good to come out second half after our performance in the first half and put the wrongs right."
