Man of the match: Sam Scott - a big-hitting show from the second row, allied to composure with and without the ball. Namesake Cam Scott outside him had an excellent debut too - ably filling the void left by Junior Vaivai's return to Hull KR.
Referee: Mike Mannifield (Huddersfield) – he seemed to communicate well with the players but then he maybe had to as a stack of controversial decisions perplexed and angered both sets of fans, with both sides having two tries disallowed.
Penalty count: 12-7
Half-time: 0-8
Weather: mild.
Attendance: 976.
Moment of the match: Cam Scott's 13th-minute try gave early signs the young newcomer from Hull FC would be a very decent addition to the Knights' ranks. Fellow centre Liam Salter's 68th-minute try, extending the lead to 26-0, had the noisy travelling fans in buoyant mood again.
Gaffe of the match: York's defence, so full of concentration for most of the game against an enterprising attacking team, briefly switched off to allow Luke Waterworth a second late consolation try for the Lions.
Gamebreaker: Referee Mike Mannifield deemed Swinton winger Mike Butt had knocked on in the act of touching down following a challenge under a kick, a try which would have made it 8-6. Instead, York went up the other end and scored through Marcus Stock, with two more converted tries within the next 10 minutes having York 26-0 clear with 12 minutes left.
Match rating: This was a good game that hinged on key moments, with both sides having tries ruled out and the contest in the balance prior to York's three tries in 10 second-half minutes which put them in the clear - and heading up to joint-second in the Championship.
