YORK City are freezing all ticket prices for next season, with the costs reverting to those of the 2018/19 campaign.

Last month, the club announced that prices were to rise for 2019/20 but that decision has now been revised.

A statement on the club's website explained that the rise was as a result of the costs associated with the new Community Stadium ticketing service. Those could no longer be justified, however, with the number of games expected to be played at Bootham Crescent, with the new ground beset by delays.

There will still be "a small booking fee" for games at the Community Stadium.

Season ticket application forms for the 2019/20 season are available to download from the club's website. Forms and payment will be accepted at the club shop from 11am tomorrow, and supporters have until July 19 to take advantage of the 'early bird' discount.

The statement reads: "York City Football Club’s board of directors has now reviewed and frozen all ticket prices for the forthcoming 2019/20 season.

"The original decision to increase prices (announced on May 31) was necessary to cover booking fees associated with the new online ticketing service at the Community Stadium.

"However, with an increasing number of next season’s home games now set to be played at Bootham Crescent - amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the date of the move to the new Community Stadium - those increases were no longer justifiable and we felt it only fair on supporters to revert back to last season’s prices.

"There will still be a small booking fee payable for matchday tickets purchased for games at the new Community Stadium in the 2019/20 season (the booking fee is an operational procedure required for the online ticketing service at the new Community Stadium).

"The club wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused and shares the frustration of our supporters.

"The delay in moving to the Community Stadium and the delay in generating season ticket income continues to put pressure on the club’s finances and imminent cash flow.

"Staff at the club have also spent a great deal of time and effort in preparing for the online sale of season tickets.

"Please note, the freeze on ticket prices applies to both season tickets and matchday tickets.

"Only matchday tickets for games at the Community Stadium will incur a small rise in price, in order to cover booking fees.

"On completion of the new Community Stadium, season ticket holders will receive a new 'season ticket card' which will replace their existing season ticket booklet at no additional cost. All information held by the club will be transferred automatically to the card entry system for remaining home fixtures.

"Season ticket holders will also be given an opportunity, at that stage, to choose corresponding seats in the new stadium."
