YORK City have added a game against North Yorkshire rivals Scarborough Athletic to their pre-season fixture list.

Evo-Stik League premier division outfit Boro are slated to travel to Bootham Crescent for a 1pm kick off on Saturday, July 20.

This is the third game the Minstermen have announced, following on from two National League sides in Hartlepool United (Wednesday, July 17, 7pm) and newly-relegated Notts County (Saturday, July 27, 12.30pm).

City and Scarborough squared up last season in the North Riding County FA Senior Cup semi-final, with Boro winning 3-0 on penalties following a 0-0 stalemate. The Seadogs went on to lift the trophy.

The silverware went some way to making up for a poor end to term for Boro, who finished eighth after spending a good portion of the season in promotion contention.

John Deacey has taken over from dismissed manager Steve Kittrick, for whom the shock 2-1 home defeat to Stalybridge Celtic in mid-March was the final outing.

Former Farsley Celtic and Bradford Park Avenue boss Deacey has gone about transfer business early, bringing in five players from Tadcaster Albion - including ex-City youngster Harry Coates - and former Leeds player Isaac Assenso, among others.

This is Scarborough’s first trip to Bootham Crescent since Boxing Day 2005, when City won 3-1 with a teenage Michael Coulson in the Boro squad and future Seadog Dave Merris on the York bench.
