GOALKEEPER Ryan Whitley and striker Macaulay Langstaff have signed new deals to stay at York City.

York-born Whitley, 19, is a product of the club's academy and made his first-team debut against Southport last month before keeping his place for the remaining four games of the season.

Langstaff, 22, scored 10 goals last season after moving from National League side Gateshead. He also scored twice during a month's loan at Bradford Park Avenue.

Whitley, who has signed a two-year deal, said: "I am very happy to sign and it's the right move for me at my age. It was a big decision. I played in the last five games so it was a case of 'what's the right path for me?'

"I had a couple of clubs sniffing around but nothing came in. Two promotions in two years is now the aim and, personally, I just want to be number one playing week in week out for York."

Langstaff - who scored five goals in seven games following his return from Bradford - has signed a one-year deal.

He said: "I am really happy to be staying and I know the manager is building a squad that will be up there challenging for promotion next season.

"I enjoyed my first season with the club but the loan move was also good for my confidence.

"When I came back, I got into double figures and it felt like the season finished at just the wrong time for me.

"Now I am aiming to score 20 goals next season and just hope I can start pre-season in the way I finished off the last."

Midfielder Patrick McLaughlin signed a permanent deal with the club last week while defender Joe Tait and midfielder Adriano Moke also signed new deals at the start of the week.
