HEMINGBROUGH United remain in a precarious position in the York Minster Engineering League premier division following a 5-1 midweek home defeat to high-riders Wigginton Grasshoppers.
The home side are second bottom in the table, four points adrift of safety, though they do have five games in hand on 13th-placed Sporting Knavesmire.
Mike Byram gave Hoppers the lead in the 20th minute, turning on the edge of the area to power home a curling strike, before 16-year-old Sam Gough added his second hat-trick in five days.
Nifty footwork from Kain Rogerson saw the winger beat his man and fire home to make it 5-0 before Hemingbrough got a deserved consolation.
