MICHAEL Potts will still be sidelined for FC United of Manchester’s home game against his old club this evening.

The 27-year former York City midfielder, who captains the Moston outfit, would have missed the originally-scheduled fixture between the two clubs, which was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch ten days ago, having undergone groin surgery in January.

Potts is still at the rehab stage ahead of the newly-arranged contest, joining Bob Harris and long-term, cruciate ligament casualty Brad Barnes on the sidelines.

The hosts, meanwhile, will also need to assess talismanic striker Kurt Willoughby, who only lasted 53 minutes of Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Curzon Ashton after opening the scoring with his 17th club goal of the season and seventh in relegation-threatened United’s last ten games.

Ex-Clitheroe marksman Willoughby also netted for England C last week and his recent heavy workload for club and country is being monitored.

But midfielder Harry Winter, who was sent off at Curzon, will be available for the hosts with his suspension not due to start until the weekend.

FC United have won just one league game on their own soil this season - an unenviable record that is only matched by National League South whipping boys Weston Super Mare in English football’s top seven divisions.

The home side take on City three points adrift of a position outside the relegation zone with a goal difference 13 inferior to fourth-bottom Guiseley, who they have played one game more than.
