BOSTON United will arrive at Bootham Crescent looking for their first clean sheet since last meeting York City on December 8.

Nicky Walker and Gavin Allott goals secured a 2-0 triumph on that afternoon, but the tenth-placed Pilgrims have subsequently racked up 16 matches without a shut-out and only strugglers Guiseley (22 games) and Nuneaton (25) have suffered longer sequences.

On the road, meanwhile, the Lincolnshire outfit have failed to keep a home team off the scoresheet in a National League North contest since a 2-0 victory over Stockport on September 8.

Nevertheless, Boston have managed eight away victories in the division this season and, along with Stockport, the York Street side have also taken maximum points at Altrincham and shared the spoils with Chorley after visiting their Victory Park home.

With six more points won on the road than at home during 2018/19, Boston are one of nine clubs, meanwhile, to boast a higher away-points tally than that accrued on their own soil.

The other sides are Spennymoor, Bardford Park Avenue, Altrincham, Alfreton, Curzon Ashton, Southport, FC United of Manchester, Ashton United and Nuneaton.

Leading marksman Walker, meanwhile, has scored eight of his 11 goals on the road, although the former Rotherham winger has started the last two games on the bench and Boston have had problems in front of goal this term.

No player has managed double figures in the league, with Walker and ex-Frickley forward Allott having both netted nine times.

In an attempt to address the potency problems, Elliott recruited Minstermen striker Jake Wright on loan for a month, but he is ineligible to face his parent club.

Wright has started Boston’s last three games and was named man of the match after scoring a header during a 3-2 triumph at Southport.

The 22-year-old attacker has also been shown two yellow cards during his Lincolnshire stint, taking his tally to ten for the season.

He has, for now, escaped a two-match ban because one of the cautions came on FA Cup duty but, if his name is taken once more before the second Sunday in April, he will be suspended for back-to-back fixtures.

Boston will, however, be able to call on the services of a pair of one-time Minstermen - Nicky Wroe and Ryan Qualter.

Wroe, now 33, has made nine appearances since joining from Bradford Park Avenue in January and came off the bench during last weekend’s 2-0 home defeat to league leaders Chorley.

Ex-City youth-team centre back Qualter has made 37 appearances this season – a record that can only be matched by central-midfielders Brad Abbott and Andi Thanoj - and has also scored once.

Elliott will be waiting to learn whether left-back Ashley Jackson has recovered from a bout of pneumonia. He has started 35 games this term and the Pilgrims have lost every game he hasn’t started.

If Jackson isn’t available, on-loan Chesterfield signing George Smith will continue to deputise.

Boston go into the game having lost three of their last five fixtures and sitting six points adrift of the play-off positions.

A tally of six draws is also the joint-fewest number in the division, along with second-bottom Ashton United.
