YORK City loanee Tom Bradbury has insisted the Minstermen can enjoy a good run if they go into an important trio of National League North fixtures with confidence.

Tomorrow, City travel to Alfreton Town, before home games on Tuesday and next Saturday against the sides currently directly above and below them in the table, Hereford and Ashton United, respectively.

And though City head into this run off the back of a 4-1 home defeat to table-toppers Chorley, the 20-year-old Dundee defender believes York should not be too disheartened.

He said: "We can’t fear these three games. We’ve got to have confidence. If you play the game with fear, you’re negative and your performance levels drop massively, so you’ve got to go in with confidence.

"Although we are where we are in the table, we should have belief.

"It only takes one win. You’ve seen it in football – one win, a bit of confidence and you might win again the following Tuesday night. Then, spirits are high and you keep going.

"We shouldn’t fear any of these three games. We should be on the front foot, aggressive and looking for maximum points.

"We shouldn’t be where we are. I know everyone keeps saying it but I do genuinely believe that. I’ve had three training sessions now and, with the standard we’ve produced, we should be right up there in the league.

"Although we just got beat heavily, I didn’t see anything that should trouble us too much, and they’re top of the league. Two mistakes, two goals, a deflection. Take them away and it’s a more even game.

"I know it’s clichéd to say I definitely think we will move up the table, and quite soon."

As a player, Bradbury believes he is not tied to a single position or formation, saying: "I’ve played on the left and in the middle (of a three) and I’ve played on the left of a four as well, so I like to think I’m quite comfortable being versatile.

"I can do a job at left back. I get forward quite a lot and I’ve got good pace."

He admits he was thrown in at the deep end somewhat prior to the Chorley game, having arrived on Friday and not being able to train with the side, but that has not dampened his enthusiasm.

Bradbury said: "I loved (going straight into the team), to be honest, I want to play as many games as I can. I’m delighted to be in starting 11.

"I was thankful for the gaffer putting his faith in me and hopefully it can continue.

"The game itself was a shame - we went two down in the first 15 minutes, which was unfortunate. We got back into the game, but they got the next goal and a bit of a cushion.

"In terms of the performance, at times we had good spells, but the first two goals killed us. You can’t go two down against (the side) top of the league and expect anything from the game.

"Training this week has been brilliant. The standard’s very good, a lot of these boys have even played in the Football League. If anything, maybe Scotland’s a tiny bit quicker, but in terms of technique and knowledge of the game, I don’t see a lot of difference.

"At times on Saturday, maybe the game was a bit too frantic. The pace of the game was really good, but at times it maybe needed a bit of composure to keep the ball and relax a little bit.

"But the standard’s very good and it’s going to be a good loan move for me."
