NEW Earswick Falcons suffered a narrow 82-79 loss to Leeds in the Over 55s League.
At home Bob Elliot, Dave Kermode, Brian Birch and Mick Head started with a five against D Nicholson’s rink and led 14-4 after seven ends.
But, after only scoring a three in the next seven ends, Falcons were pegged back to 17-16.
With the sides level at 20-20, though, the hosts scored two singles to prevail 22-20.
Dave Imeson, Barry Harrison, Barry Johnson and Ralph Tiplady started with a four against I Tindal’s team and were 13-7 up after 11 ends, only to lose the next nine, including dropping a six at the 14th end, before ultimately going down 24-14.
At Leeds, Dave Furness, Brian Gray, Paul Murray and Kevin Liddell dropped a five at the first end against A Box’s team but managed to pick up 12 shots to Leeds’ two during the last six ends for a 29-15 triumph.
Graham Lockwood, Bill Nuckey, Rod Walke and Bill Waldie led W Stockhill’s four 3 -1 but then fell 12-3 behind and couldn’t prevent the home side from emerging 23-14 victors.
Leeds finished the match with ten points and New Earswick four.
