YORK City Futsal went down 2-0 at home to National FA Super League form-team Loughborough.

The visitors had lost only one of their previous six outings, including an impressive defeat of Sussex.

City’s cause wasn’t helped either by Daniel Pedras’ absence due to injury, but talented teenager Kalil Juny made his home debut.

Junior Roberti’s men started positively and could have been ahead inside the first minute when a rasping drive from Roly Donoso was well saved by the Loughborough keeper.

York captain Fabinho Almeida then went close before Loughborough took the lead on ten minutes against the run of play with a well-taken goal following a quick break.

Michael Bulmer went on to see a potential equalising effort fly agonisingly over the bar and Donoso again saw a shot brilliantly saved.

With just under two minutes to go in the half, York conceded their sixth foul and Loughborough were awarded a ten-metre penalty.

The Loughborough player stepped up but saw his effort brilliantly saved by Martin Michels.

In the second half, after only six minutes, York flew their keeper and, almost immediately, Almeida nearly scored.

On ten minutes, however, a misplaced pass from York saw Loughborough again break quickly and, whilst a first attempt was saved by Michels, the rebound fell to the away team’s forward who calmly placed the ball into the back of the net.

It clearly wasn’t going to be York’s day and, in the dying moments, a tackle by Donoso was deemed worthy of a straight red card, much to the surprise of the home players.
