MALTON Motor Club speedster Matthew Robinson has followed up his historic section success on the Malton Forest Rally with a stunning triumph in the prestigious Silver Fern Rally in New Zealand.

With co-driver Sam Collis, the road planing engineer from Harrogate won the event by over four minutes and led a British one-two-three, all in MkII Ford Escorts.

The Silver Fern is acknowledged as the most famous historic rally in the world and takes place over six days in the north island of New Zealand.

Two other Malton Motor Club members were also co-driving on the event, with Nigel Hutchinson finishing seventh and Grum Wilcox 15th.

The next event for winning co-driver Collis will be the Malton Club’s Ryedale Trophy Road Rally around the North York Moors on January19-20.
