THE Betfred Championship fixtures for 2019 came out this week - and gave York City Knights a humdinger of an opening game against Toronto Wolfpack at Bootham Crescent.

What better reason, therefore, to have a look back at the last time the sides met, on that memorable sunny day in July 2017, when the Knights upset the formbook, the apple cart, the rugby league world and no doubt quite a few accumulator coupons with a momentous 26-16 success.

Toronto, a full-time team comprising stars from Super League and the NRL, otherwise went through the league season unbeaten on their way to the title. They finished top of the Championship this year too.

For the Knights, though, it showed just what could be achieved and they of course followed suit this year by claiming the League One crown themselves.

Here we have a picture gallery of the big day, and you can also read the match report here, the player ratings here and reaction from chairman Jon Flatman here.

Next season kicks off on February 3 - with this opener already being dubbed the "Transatlantic Tussle II - Return of the Pack".

What chance a repeat shock?
