PICKERING Town were held to a goalless draw in their FA Trophy third qualifying round tie at Mill Lane against Ramsbottom United.

The Pikes had two second-half goals ruled out as they were unable progress in the competition at the first time of asking for the third consecutive round.

Evo-Stik League West Division high-fliers Ramsbottom will host the replay on Tuesday, November 27.

Ryan Blott and Lewis Taylor both went close in the first half and, five minutes after the break, Pickering had the ball in the net but play was contentiously brought back for a Pikes free kick when they felt they had an advantage to play. A Josh Greening effort was called offside.

At the back, keeper Charlie Andrew made important second-half saves from Kyle Jacobs and Nico Evangelinos as the Pikes recorded their 50th clean sheet under manager Paul Marshall.

Meanwhile, Scarborough Athletic are now just one point clear at the top of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division following a 2-0 home defeat to Gainsborough Trinity.

Selby Town are up to third in Northern Counties East League Division One with their sixth consecutive league win.

A Liam Flanagan brace and a low long-range Carl Stewart strike helped the Robins see off basement side FC Bolsover 3-1, although the hosts were not at their best.

Flanagan blasted in an 11th-minute free-kick past the rooted keeper FC Bolsover levelled 12 minutes into the second half through former Robin Brett Lucas' header.

It took until the 78th minute for Selby to restore their lead as Flanagan chipped in from Stewart's ball forward, and the latter sealed the win from 25 yards, guiding a first-time effort into a bottom corner.

Knaresborough Town slipped to fifth in the Premier Division with 1-0 defeat at Handsworth Parramore, while strugglers Harrogate Railway Athletic lost 2-1 at Liversedge.

National League high-fliers Harrogate Town beat Braintree Town 3-0.
