YORK & District Schoolboys Under-13s won 4-2 at Wakefield in the Yorkshire Schoolboys League.

Seeking revenge for last month's cup defeat, York started well and took a 15th-minute lead through Adam Clarkson, who flicked into the roof of the net from a Ben Myers corner.

Wakefield started to come into the game as the half wore on but they could have found themselves two down at the break after Mitch Parkinson rounded the keeper, only to curl just wide before Myers saw a shot well blocked.

The hosts got the equaliser shortly after the hour mark with a looping header from a long free kick and then took the lead with a drilled effort from the edge of the area following a goalmouth scramble.

With a quarter of an hour to go, York responded impressively and one of a succession of corners found its way to Oliver Fash to volley in from the edge of the area.

Not content with a draw, York pushed and regained the lead through Myers, who arrived in perfect timing to steer in a right-wing cross from Joseph Richardson before Kean Sorgie showed good pace to latch onto a Clarkson ball forward and net to seal the win.

The man-of-the-match award was shared by Luca Chan and Adam Clarkson.

York U12s thumped Spen Valley 11-1 thanks to hat-tricks from Alex Widdup and Arthur Jefferson-Hallett, a brace from Kiam Browne and one apiece from Ben Armitage, James Rennocks and Billy Hobson.

Browne was named man of the match for a strong, all-round midfield performance.

York U11s were just shaded 5-4 at home by Nottingham. Ben Farrar opened the scoring but the visitors replied with four goals. Oz Shaw pulled one back before Farrar got another two to level but Nottingham got the vital ninth goal in the late stages.

Brogan Dunn was York's man of the match.
