YORK Minster Engineering Football League premier division leaders Huntington Rovers were 4-3 winners over Boro Rangers in round two of the North Riding FA Saturday County Cup.

Rovers cruised into a 4-1 half-time lead with four strikes of the highest quality from Alex Burton, Ash Hope, James Edmond and JP Vass.

A determined fightback from Rangers saw them come back to 4-3 but Rovers had enough quality to see the game out.

Wigginton Grasshoppers saw off Bedale 3-2 in the same competition.

A Neale Holmes penalty and a Harry Clapham header put Wiggy 2-0 up before a breakaway goal made it 2-1 in the 48th minute.

Mike Byram struck 60 seconds later to make it 3-1 to Wiggy before a spot-kick from Bedale.

Old Malton St Mary's, who have won the competition twice in recent years, made a shock exit to Yarm and Eaglescliffe.

Old Malton were in the game at 2-2 but three late goals in the last eight minutes saw them succumb to a 5-2 defeat.

After a fiery game, hosts F1 Racing drew 1-1 with Thorpe United.

F1 had keeper Adam Wilson dismissed after 20 minutes, but had the better of the first half and were denied by a great penalty save from the Thorpe goalkeeper.

Thorpe took the lead mid-way through the second period when a free kick eluded everyone and nestled in the back of the net.

The visitors then were reduced to 10 men themselves, and F1's continual pressure was rewarded when Dan Clubley glanced home an Oli Kilvington free-kick.

Poppleton United moved up to sixth place with a 4-2 success at Tadcaster Magnets.

Osbaldwick's woes continued after a 7-1 loss at home to Hemingbrough left them three points adrift of Copmanthorpe at the foot of the table.

Hemingbrough took the lead after 30 seconds as a deft lob beat the Osso keeper, but the hosts fought back quickly with Isaac Clark levelling.

However, the comeback was short lived with Hemingbrough going in 3-1 ahead at the break and hitting four without reply in the second half.

Adam Sawyer gave Civil Service the lead at Heworth before a Sam Smith penalty squared matters up. Dan Carre put the home side in front at the break only for Mark Lund to level for Service from the spot after the restart.

A late Elliot Montague goal saw Heworth edge a 3-2 win and move up to sixth in the table.
