YORK City Knights celebrate their stellar 2018 season tonight with their Gala Dinner at York Racecourse.

The ceremony, starting at 7pm with a bucks fizz reception, will hail their Betfred League One title-winning campaign as well as mark the 150th anniversary of the rugby club in York.

The club also enjoyed a quadruple success at the league's Betfred Awards night in September, collecting Club and Foundation of the Year gongs while record-breaking scrum-half Connor Robinson was named the League One Player of the Year and boss James Ford the Coach of the Year.

Awards to be presented tonight include the club's Player of the Year, The Press Player of the Year, the Players' Player, the Shooting Star and the Clubperson of the Year.

Likewise Player of the Year, Players' Player and Shooting Star accolades will be presented to the Knights Ladies team after their maiden season in the elite division of women's rugby league.

A club statement said: "The event, hosted by BBC Look North’s Harry Gration, will be the culmination of a very memorable year for rugby league in York.

"We’ll take you through the key moments of the season for the whole club, as the ladies' team made history by becoming inaugural Women's Super League members, and the men's team swept all before them on their way to becoming Betfred League One champions."

All money raised tonight will support the Knights Foundation's work in the community.
