YORK City Knights have added further depth to their back line with the signing of outside back Kevin Brown.

Brown, 19, is a product of the successful St Helens academy, and made his professional debut in the 2018 Championship Shield final when on emergency loan at Leigh Centurions.

He moved to the Minster city to start a degree course at Knights' partners York St John University and has now joined the club.

James Ford, Knights head coach, said: "Kevin has come through an excellent system over at St Helens and brings plenty of utility value to our backs.

"He’s got good leg speed and evasive movements and has already demonstrated a fantastic attitude towards hard work and his own development.

"It’s a big step up from academy rugby to York, but he’s determined to make a success from it."

The 22 players now officially signed on for next year are League One player of the year Connor Robinson, fellow nominee Ben Cockayne, hookers Harry Carter and Will Jubb, centres Brad Hey, Liam Salter and Perry Whiteley, wingers Judah Mazive and Kevin Brown, winger/full-backs Ash Robson and Matt Chilton, full-back/half-back Matty Marsh, England Students internationals Marcus Stock and Jason Bass, captain Tim Spears, and packmen Ross Osborne, Ronan Dixon, Josh Jordan-Roberts, Joe Porter, Sam Scott, Jack Teanby and Mike Kelly.
