PICKERING Town manager Paul Marshall says his side's four-match unbeaten run breeds confidence - but is not getting carried away ahead of tomorrow's Evo-Stik League east division trip to Carlton Town.

The Pikes' recent form has seen them draw two and win two, with the most recent victory coming at Droylsden in Tuesday's FA Trophy first qualifying round replay.

Goals from Ryan Blott, Billy Logan and Lewis Taylor helped the Pikes to a 3-2 win - twice coming from behind after finding themselves 2-1 down at the break to the ESL west outfit.

This win further evidence that Pickering are adjusting to life at Step 4, which Marshall admits has been something of a learning curve. However, he will not allow it to colour his view of tomorrow's game at Carlton, whose three-match winning run ended on Wednesday with a 2-0 defeat to Gresley.

He said: "I never get too excited when we win and I never get too depressed when we lose - you've got to keep level-headed.

"Carlton are going well and it’s going to be a tough away trip. I’ve seen some videos and they’re quite a powerful team.

"Droylsden was a great win for us. We played very well in the second half.

"We started slowly and conceded two bad goals. You can put it down to a three-hour trip to get there.

"We got the goal in between, and we could see that we were always going to score goals, it was just whether we could stop them.

"We're still learning, as a team, how to play against teams at this higher level because we don't have the ball as much as we did last season and we've got to defend more.

"That's four games unbeaten now and we've got to keep going. Once you're on a run, it breeds confidence in what you're trying to achieve."

Marshall had extra praise for young centre-back Adam Lund, who made his first appearance, replacing Matty Turnbull at the start of the second half. Lund has joined, along with Jordan Emery, on dual-reg terms from Goole AFC. With the Jack Vaulks coming in on a month-long loan from National League North outfit Darlington, Pickering's previously ailing squad is starting to fill out.

"Adam Lund came on and he did very well," said Marshall. "He looks a very good prospect. I'm pleased with that. There's now plenty of competition for places in defence."

Lund and Vaulks will go into Saturday's squad while Eddie Cass - in exchange for Lund - may turn out for Goole. Turnbull will take a couple of weeks' rest.

Elsewhere in the east division, Tadcaster Albion tomorrow have their first fixture since a 5-1 thrashing of Cleethorpes Town a fortnight ago. The seventh-placed Brewers host newly-promoted AFC Mansfield.

Premier division leaders Scarborough Athletic visit Farsley Celtic following Tuesday's Integro League Cup second round penalty shootout win over coastal rivals Whitby Town.

Selby Town head into tomorrow's Northern Counties East League division one home meeting with East Yorkshire Carnegie off the back of three consecutive wins. Last time out, the Robins beat Swallownest 1-0 in midweek thanks to Carl Stewart's strike five minutes into the second half.

Premier division high-fliers Knaresborough Town host Albion Sports tomorrow while bottom side Harrogate Railway welcome Maltby Main.

Fourth-placed in National League, Harrogate Town will look for three more points when they welcome 19th-placed Chesterfield.
