PICKERING Town’s debut foray into the FA Trophy continues after they twice came from behind to win their first qualifying round replay 3-2 at Droylsden.

Ryan Blott, Billy Logan and Lewis Taylor were all on target last night as the Pikes turned around a 2-1 half-time deficit.

The Pikes will now face AFC Mansfield on Saturday, November 10 in the second qualifying round following the Bulls’ 1-0 replay win at Hednesford Town.

At Droylsden’s Butchers Arms Ground, Clive Smith headed in to give the hosts a sixth-minute lead but Blott levelled almost straight from the restart after rounding the keeper.

Parity lasted just six minutes, though, as Lewis Doyle drilled in from Sefton Gonzales’ chest down before Niall Tilsley headed against the crossbar from a free kick.

It was Logan’s 90th-minute goal at Mill Lane on Saturday that took the tie to a replay, and the prolific forward was again in the action just after the break as he chipped in from 20 yards.

Substitute Alex Lund had a chance to put Pickering ahead on his debut, but he sliced wide from inside the area before Taylor netted the winner just after the hour.

The hosts made a triple substitution in the minutes after, but it was Pickering who came closest to the next goal as a Logan strike came back off a post.

And Pickering’s backline held firm, with only a Domaine Rouse header coming close to troubling the visitors.
