ACOMB Hockey Club Men I dropped a place to fifth in Yorkshire League division two with a 1-1 draw at Lindum III.

This was Acomb’s third draw on the bounce following a 4-4 at Halifax II and last week’s 1-1 against City of York IV.

The hosts started strongly, and could have gone ahead, but the Tangerines had the ball in the net first - although Tom Brown’s strike was ruled out after failing to hit the backboard.

But the Tangerines, who were growing in possession, did take the lead within five minutes as Jamie Robinson forced the ball past a prone keeper with a slight mis-hit.

With Acomb down to 10 men 15 minutes into the second half, Lindum pulled level from a penalty corner.

Acomb II’s division five north fixture against Bingley Bees will be re-arranged.

Acomb Ladies lost 4-3 at home to Hull II in Yorkshire Ladies League division one.

The Tangerines took the lead early through Kerry Woods before sustained pressure on the Acomb defence saw the visitors draw level just before the break.

Hull took the lead from a goalmouth scramble early in the second half before Sophie Burn got her first goal for Acomb from good work from Vicky Wrigley and Emily Watson.

Woods added a third for Acomb from a penalty corner, before Hull equalised and found the winner from a last-minute penalty corner.
