HEWORTH ARLC'S successful 2018 season continued unabated when they travelled to Bradford Dudley Hill and after a magnificent display returned with the Yorkshire Open Age Floodlit Sevens Trophy.

Their achievement was made even more remarkable as due to late call-offs they were only able to field the minimum number of seven players.

The Villagers - who have applied to rejoin the flagship National Conference League after dominating Yorkshire Men's League division one in a title-winning campaign - went unbeaten in the group stage of the sevens tournament, claiming victories over Dewsbury Moor, Odsal Sedbergh and hosts Dudley Hill.

That record sent them through to the final to take on Farnley Falcons, who had also won all three of their qualifying games.

The Falcons raced into an early 8-0 lead in the final before Heworth swung into top gear with tries by Joe Deighton (2), Fraser West and Liam Jackson ensuring a 24-8 success.

The other four members of a superb squad performance were Sam Atkinson, Dave Hayes, Josh Poulter and Adam Speck.
