YORK City will travel to League Two side Swindon Town in the first round of the FA Cup.

The Minstermen were 10th out of the hat, being sent to the mid-table League Two team, where they will be bidding to pull off a shock to reach the second round for the first time since 2011.

The tie is to be played over the weekend of November 9-11.

All first-round winners will receive £36,000 in prize money, with National League North City having already pocketed £49,000 for their victories over Ashton Athletic (5-0), St Ives Town (3-0) and Blyth Spartans (1-0 on Saturday) in this term’s tournament.

During the past two seasons, the Minstermen have been knocked out of the competition by South Shields and Curzon Ashton at the qualifying round stage, prior to when Football League clubs enter the competition.

A 3-2 defeat at Accrington Stanley, meanwhile, represents the last time City competed in the first round during their last season as a League club.

Sean McConville, Matt Crooks and Josh Windass were all on target for the hosts during that match with Vadaine Oliver and Michael Coulson replying in what was also the first match of Jackie McNamara’s ill-fated managerial reign.

The Minstermen have not progressed past the first round for seven years since a 3-0 replay victory over Rotherham at Bootham Crescent.

A 2-0 triumph at Darlington followed to book a third-round trip to then Premier League outfit Bolton, who required late goals from subs Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander to see off Gary Mills’ team 2-0.

Harrogate Town, meanwhile, will travel to National League South side Weston-Super-Mare if they can win their replay at National League rivals Wrexham tomorrow night.
