KIAM BROWNE scored a hat-trick for York & District Schoolboys Under-12s as they recorded an emphatic 6-0 home win over Spen Valley.

Harry Fort added a brace and Jamie Rennocks one as York eased through to the second round of the Michael Dale Trophy.

York took the lead in the first minute through Browne after he was played in by Rennocks, and they doubled it just two minutes later, with Rennocks this time setting up Fort for a smart finish.

The hosts continued to dominate and, 10 minutes on, had a third as Browne struck a volley into the top corner, and Fort added his second with a right-footed effort into the bottom corner before half-time.

In the second period, Rennocks extended York's advantage with a near-post finish after dribbling past two defenders from Joseph Meek's clever pass.

York continued to look strong and create chances, but were not clinical enough in front of goal until Meek and Arthur Jefferson-Hallett started to combine well on the right and caused problems for their opponents.

From a quick exchange of passes, Browne was played in to complete his treble with a cheeky chip over the advancing keeper.

Billy Hobson was York's man of the match.

York & District Schoolboys U11s made the perfect start to their league campaign with a 4-1 win at Sheffield.

The visitors began strongly, pressing well across the pitch and limiting the Sheffield players' time on the ball.

Ben Farrar opened the scoring after good work from James Borlase, who picked the ball up on the right and showed quick feet to nip between defenders before playing the ball down the line for Ozzy Shaw to provide the assist with a low driven cross.

Sheffield tried to attack but York's back three were in good form and Cam McMillan made it 2-0 following Shaw's interception and through ball.

Shaw made it 3-0 in the second period with a low shot from the edge of the area from Borlase's quick short corner, while keeper Stan Connor remained relatively untroubled at the other end.

Farrar wrapped up the win in the final period, slotting home his second from Shaw's through ball, before Sheffield bagged a consolation.
