WIGGINTON Grasshoppers were pushed to the finish by Bramham in a nine-goal thriller in the Fastpack Ltd York Sunday Morning League Senior Cup.

Wiggy controlled the first 70 minutes of the tie and went 5-1 up before a dogged fightback saw the hosts fight back to 5-4 at the final whistle.

Jamie Willstrop hit a post from range early on as the visitors squandered a host of chances before Jordan McGuigan produced a looping header from Alessandro Delrio’s corner to open the scoring.

A brace from Reuben Young prior to half-time looked to have put the tie beyond doubt, but the hosts dragged themselves back into the game shortly after the restart from a good move.

Wigginton responded through Willstrop, who won and scored a penalty before Mulhearn produced a mazy run to seemingly put the tie beyond doubt.

However, in a frantic last 20 minutes, Bramham made it 5-2 on the break, then converted a free kick from the edge of the area.

Mulhearn then had two goals ruled out before Bramham bagged a fourth to set up a pulsating finish.
