TADCASTER Albion have a “hoodoo” to banish tomorrow as they look to get over the disappointment of falling to another during the week.

On Saturday, the Brewers are in Evo-Stik League east division action when they visit Cleethorpes Town – a team they have not beaten in any of their six meetings.

Cleethorpes currently sit second bottom in the table but have three games in hand over ninth-placed Taddy. Since the sides’ first meeting in December 2014, the Owls have drawn one and won five, including that season’s Northern Counties East League Cup final.

This follows Tuesday night’s 2-0 home loss to Droylsden in the FA Trophy preliminary round replay, a defeat that saw Taddy maintain their unenviable record of not having won a game in the competition.

Second-half goals from Domaine Rouse and Sefton Gonzales buried the Brewers, who were left to rue missed first-half chances from frontmen Casey Stewart, Aiden Savory and Lamin Colley.

Club spokesman Jay Taylor said: “It’s massively

disappointing. We can’t seem to buy a win in the Trophy.

“We were so close this time – we should have been out of sight in the first half, then we lost our intensity in the second half.

“We’re still positive. We were unbeaten in five before Droylsden, and we’d won three of those, so we were putting things right.

“It’s two steps forward, one step back – but the mood is still positive.”

“It’s very important that we win at the weekend, but it’s another hoodoo for us.

“We haven’t beaten them in our history and we lost the League Cup final to them, so we don’t have fond memories of going there. They got a

draw in the week, so they’ll be coming out all-guns-blazing.

“We’ve got to make sure we’re all singing from the same sheet and we’ve got to take our chances, which we’re struggling with at the minute.

“If you don’t take them, you’re going to get punished.”
