TADCASTER Albion are still waiting for their first FA Trophy win after suffering 2-0 preliminary-round replay defeat to Droylsden.

The result means Taddy miss out on a trip to local rivals Pickering Town, who will instead host the Bloods on Saturday, October 27.

Taddy and Droylsden drew 1-1 in Greater Manchester at the weekend to bring the rematch to the Brewers' i2i Stadium home, where second-half goals from Domaine Rouse and Sefton Gonzales saw Albion’s Trophy hoodoo continue.

The hosts will rue a number of missed chances, while they found visiting keeper Chris Thompson in inspired form.

Manager Simon Collins named the same side that played out the draw at Droylsden three days prior, with attacking options on the bench limited with Joe Lumsden and Corey Roper both still on the treatment table.

After a lively start by the visitors, it was Taddy who carved out the first chance on nine minutes when Pete Davidson dangerously drove into the penalty box only for his cross to be a fraction behind Lamin Colley.

Davidson was the driving force again two minutes later when he pinched off Phil Marsh to slide in for Saturday’s goalscorer Casey Stewart, who cheekily touched through the legs of Sam Baird before shooting straight at Thomspon.

Tadcaster were certainly the superior in the opening knockings as a tame Febian Brandy free kick was the only attempt on goal from Droylsden.

Another great chance for the hosts came and went from the aforementioned free kick, as Billy Whitehouse dinked into an unmarked Aiden Savory but his header from eight yards was well pushed away by Thompson, who made an outstanding save to deny centre-back Harry Coates from the resulting corner.

Not to be outdone, Taddy keeper Michael Ingham was then called on to make a super save to keep out Rouse from a one-on-one opportunity from Brandy's lovely chip in behind.

But it was still Thompson’s goal under the greater threat as a mistake from Baird allowed Lamin Colley to gallop in on goal, but was denied by an excellent left-handed stop.

When Thompson was eventually beaten, either the attempt was off-target or the flag was raised for offside, with Colley seeing a tap-in disallowed before Aiden Savory struck narrowly wide.

As Albion’s intensity seemed to drop in the second half, Gonzales had an early effort denied by Ingham before Rouse broke the deadlock on 49 minutes as Paddy Miller's attempted clearance from the six-yard box was fired into the back of the net by Domaine Rouse.

It could have gotten worse for Taddy as Gonzales was allowed a free header, but he sent it straight at Ingham.

Despite it feeling as though the game was slipping away from the Brewers, they still looked a threat going forward but Thompson would not be beaten, saving from Colley after Stewart played him clean through.

Albion fans tried to gee up their side as the replay reached the hour mark as Stewart slid in Whitehouse down the right-hand side, but he could only find the side netting with the angle against him.

Stewart had a penalty call waved away by referee Ben Tomlinson, who ruled Marsh had got the ball, and with Taddy pushing for a leveller, it left the door open for Droylsden to seal the win.

The Bloods had a couple of brilliant chances to do so, with Gonzales first firing off-target when clean through on goal before a diving Ingham kept out a Liam Caddick header.

But eight minutes from time, Gonzales turned in a rebound after Ingham saved a Caddick strike to effectively seal the tie.

Colley went close to a consolation in the dying embers, but regardless, it was too little too late for the Brewers.
