JOSH GREENING scored a brace as Pickering Town made the perfect entrance to the FA Trophy as they saw off Evo-Stik League rivals Stocksbridge Park Steels 3-0 in the preliminary round.

This is the first time the Pikes have featured in the competition, and Greening got them off the mark with a 22nd-minute finish at Mill Lane on Sunday.

He slotted home Billy Logan's pass for his second shortly after the break before Joe Danby wrapped up proceedings, firing into the roof of the net 10 minutes from time.

Selby Town remain seventh in Northern Counties East League division one following 4-0 defeat at Grimsby Borough.

Three goals for the hosts inside a 17-minute second-half period proved to be the undoing of the Robins, who had held kept the now fourth-placed Borough at bay for the opening 45.

Grimsby had a few chances in the first period, while Sam Cable had a couple for Selby in the space of two minutes, first snatching at a shot at the back post from a Joe Dale cross before shooting wide from Liam Flanagan's cross.

But Marc Cooper got the opener in the 47th minute with a close-range tap in before Callum Lovitt nodded in to double the hosts' advantage. Peter Winn bagged a 64th-minute wonder strike from 40 yards and Jack Debnam rounded off the scoring five minutes from time.

Knaresborough moved up to second in the premier division with a 4-2 home win over Hall Road Rangers thanks to goals from Paul Beesley, Brad Walker, Ben Cohen and Ben Parkes.

Harrogate Railway Athletic remain bottom of the table following 4-1 home defeat to Albion Sports, with Sean Hunter netting the opener for the hosts.

Scarborough Athletic still top the Evo-Stik League premier division despite a 0-0 home draw with Bamber Bridge at a windy Flamingo Land Stadium.

Harrogate Town dropped to fourth after a 2-2 draw with Dover Athletic. Aaron Williams opened the scoring but an Inih Effiong double turned the game around before Kelvin Langmead rescued a late point for Town.
