YORKSHIRE Four newcomers Nestle Rowntree RUFC got off the mark at the fourth time of asking thanks to a superb 48-33 win over early high-fliers Mosborough.

After three defeats, Trees were finally rewarded for another strong display after an entertaining encounter - giving captain Greg Neill a fine 35th birthday present.

Mosborough started strongly but Trees centre Zak Hardy made a good break and wing forward Dan Crump, supporting well, scored out wide to break the deadlock after 20 minutes.

From the restart, Trees stormed forward again and winger Mark Thomas finished a superb move on the other flank.

Mosborough bagged two quick tries and, with one converted, they were suddenly 12-10 ahead, but, after a good break, cross-code centre Tom Dunmore barged over for Jack Daniels to convert.

Trees looked in command but on the stroke of half-time they failed to tackle the opposition fly-half and went 19-17 behind.

The second half saw replacement centre Elliott Morgan charge through a gap for Daniels to convert but again the visitors responded with a converted try.

The game changed on the hour mark as quick tries from Dan Crump and wing Tommy Wyles eased Nestle ahead by 10 points and the victory was sealed when prop Jack Gabbatiss scored two tries near the end, Daniels converting both.

Mos came back with a try on the whistle but that did little to cheer them up.

Neighbours York RI lost narrowly again, this time 13-12 at home to Hessle - the team who host Nestle Rowntree this coming Saturday.

York RI will look to bounce back at bottom team Sheffield Oaks.
