YORK’S Chris Quantock knocked out two former world darts champions on his way to the quarter-finals of the latest PDC Players’ Championship tournament.
Lakeside victors Stephen Bunting and Mark Webster, who won the BDO title in 2014 and 2008 respectively, were both seen off 6-2 by Quantock at The Citywest Hotel in Dublin.
The former Huntington School pupil had earlier defeated Lee Bryant 6-5 before disposing of ex-Premier League pair Bunting and Webster in the last 64 and 32 of the competition.
Andrew Gilding was subsequently seen off 6-5, before Dutchman Danny Noppert, who went on to claim his first PDC title by beating Ian White in the final, ended Quantock’s run with a 6-3 triumph.
