ETHAN Ryan was crowned Betfred League One Young Player of the Year last night.

The 22-year-old, who was the top try-scorer in the division with 32, fended off strong competition from team-mate Brandon Pickersgill and York City Knights’ Judah Mazive, who were also nominated for the accolade.

Ryan has been a vital component of John Kear's side and has become renowned for scoring spectacular, acrobatic tries on the wing.

Bulls had other nominees for awards at the Championship and League One awards in Manchester.

But Dane Chisholm was pipped by York City Knights' scrum half Connor Robinson to the League One Player of the Year prize, while York's James Ford won the Coach of the Year ahead of Bradford chief John Kear and Workington's former Bull Leon Pryce.

Robinson has been key to the Knights’ title success and ended the season as top goal and overall points scorer in League One. He secured the coveted prize ahead of team-mate Ben Cockayne, Workington’s Sean Penkywicz and Chisholm.

Nominated for the award in 2017, Ford was not surprisingly awarded the top coach accolade, his Knights team having beaten favourites Bulls to automatic promotion.

York were also awarded the League One Club of the Year award as recognition for their accomplishments both on and off the field. Alongside promotion, they have engaged with the local community through unique campaigns to increase crowds this year.

Toulouse Olympique full-back Mark Kheirallah was crowned Betfred Championship Player of the Year.

Kheirallah finished the regular season as top points scorer, crossing for 20 tries and scoring 127 goals in 2018. He has played a huge part in Toulouse’s fight for promotion to Betfred Super League.

He secured the award ahead of fellow Toulouse player Johnathon Ford, Halifax captain Scott Murrell and Featherstone Rovers’ winger Luke Briscoe.

In his first year in charge of London Broncos, Danny Ward was voted the Championship Coach of the Year. Voted for by his fellow coaches, Ward beat off competition from Halifax’s Richard Marshall and Sylvain Houles of Toulouse.

Sheffield Eagles’ Matt Costello scooped the Championship Young Player of the Year ahead of Harry Newman of Featherstone Rovers and Halifax RLFC’s Brandon Moore.
