FARSLEY Celtic Juniors made it three wins from three in the Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Division with a 5-1 home triumph over Calverley United.

United, still without a point after two matches, defended in numbers and tried to hit the Celts on the break, and the play was working when Ben Cook's tidy finish gave them a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute against the run of play.

But the experienced Andy Shields levelled with the last kick of the first half, which was tough luck on United manager Will Hardaker, who had made some excellent saves as the Celts enjoyed 80 per cent possession.

It was even more one-way traffic in the second half, and the Celts took the lead with Craig Farrand's curling 35-yard free-kick.

Joe Firth extended the advantage with a glancing header and a great 20-yard strike and, with United out on their feet, Danny Lyons slid in to score Celtic's fifth.

Drighlington, who went third, survived a shaky second half to defeat visitors Wibsey 4-1 and make it two wins from three.

Shane Sowden's 35th-minute goal set Drig on their way, and Charles Viegas made it 2-0 five minutes later.

Harvey Booth (55 minutes) and Sowden (65) added to the hosts' tally in the second half, Danny O'Donnell getting the sole reply in the 85th minute.

Grangefield Old Boys, whose play has been described as robust, are fourth after handing much-changed visitors Leeds Medics & Dentists their first defeat of the season.

Shane Gaunt put the old boys 1-0 up by half-time, although the margin should have been greater, and Medics levelled with a hotly disputed penalty on the hour.

A brilliant Harry Fryers header against the stanchion made it 2-1 to Grangefield and, although Medics again equalised, Andrew Kenyon hit the old boys' 91st-minute winner, albeit the visitors thought that he was offside.

Much-improved Stanningley are off the mark after a 3-0 home win over Athletico, whom have some dangerous forwards.

James Rainford's mishit cross put Staningley ahead in the first half, and James Harrop and Adam Pulford netted inn the second half but it should have been at least 3-0 in the opening stanza.

Gildersome Spurs Old Boys and hosts Wortley kept their unbeaten records in the Championship Division after a 1-1 draw, with Ben Keedy equalising for Spurs in the 40th minute, although Wortley's goalscorer Joe Hudson also missed a penalty.

In Division Two, Fairbank United had a hard-fought 3-1 home win over Morley Town Reserves.

Shoaib Hussain, on his seasonal debut, converted a brilliant inswinging corner from Abdullah Lone, and Hussain Iqbal made it 2-0 before half-time.

Town, still seeking their first win, replied in the 65th minute and pressed for an equaliser, but Iqbal's late cutback was calmly dinked home by Junaid Ali to get Fairbank on the board.

St Bede's Reserves gave an indifferent display in Division Four, with Sharam Ali Arshad getting their consolation in a 4-1 defeat at new Division Four leaders Middleton Park.

Drighlington Reserves, who are only trailing them on goal difference, won 5-1 at Thornesians Reserves, courtesy of AJ Topping, Jack Priestley (penalty), Andy Punter, Jack Bradford and a 30-yard screamer from Anthony Thompson.

Gildersome Spurs Old Boys Reserves are third with three wins from three matches, with the latest success being by 2-1 at Morley Amateur, with James Balser and man-of-the-match Jamie Lloyd netting for Spurs.

Tyersal Reserves won 4-3 at the newly-formed St Bede's Academy, who took the lead via Mick Dougan's free-kick.

Adam Lowther equalised and Dougan was again on target, but after that Bede's rather went to sleep and conceded two in ten minutes to Timmy McLoughlin as he twice picked the ball up 30 yards out and ran past four or five players before rounding the keeper and tapping the ball home.

McLoughlin then competed his hat-trick and, although Ousainey Juwara Kora got a third for Bede's, they were left to rue their second-half snooze.

In the Leeds & District FA Cup first round, impressive Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves won 14-1 at depleted Rothwell Juniors.

Goals came from Jordan Lewandowski (4), Joe Crampton (3), Jake Thompson (3), Jacob Kellet (2), Tyler Cooper and Danny Kemp.
