YORK City Knights have had no fewer than four stars nominated for accolades at the 2018 Betfred Championship and League One Awards night.

The shortlists have today been announced for the plush end-of-season ceremony to be held in Manchester later this month, and York's superb campaign - they top the League One table heading into the final fortnight, ahead of big odds-on favourites Bradford Bulls - has been widely recognised.

Head coach James Ford is up for the Coach of the Year award, alongside Bradford's John Kear and Workington's Leon Pryce, the former Great Britain star who is in his first year as a boss.

Ford was also shortlisted for this accolade 12 months ago and in 2015, his debut season as a head coach.

The Knights’ half-back pair, Ben Cockayne and Connor Robinson, are also included in the four-man shortlist for the League One Player of the Year award, alongside veteran Workington hooker Sean Penkywicz and Bradford’s Dane Chisholm.

Robinson, the runaway top point- and goal-scorer in the competition, was yesterday named as the York supporters' Player of the Year.

The Knights also have a nominee in the Young Player of the Year category in winger Judah Mazive, who has enjoyed a fine maiden season at senior level, bagging 16 tries in 18 appearances.

Bradford duo Ethan Ryan, the prolific winger, and stand-off Brandon Pickersgill are also nominated.

Meanwhile, in the Betfred Championship, Halifax boss Richard Marshall, the Coach of the Year in 2015, is again shortlisted for that gong alongside London Broncos’ Danny Ward, who is in his first year as head coach of the club, and Sylvain Houles, of Toulouse Olympique.

All three have led their sides into the Super 8s Qualifiers.

The four-man shortlist for Player of the Year features two Toulouse players – full-back Mark Kheirallah and half-back Johnathon Ford, who won the League One Player of the Year in 2016 – alongside Halifax captain Scott Murrell and Luke Briscoe of Featherstone Rovers.

Brandon Moore of Halifax is nominated for the Young Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year. Sheffield Eagles’ Matt Costello and Harry Newman of Featherstone are also in the three-man shortlist.
