YORK City Knights boss James Ford says he'd have no qualms about changing a winning team for Sunday's humdinger against Oldham at Bootham Crescent.

Ford has picked the same 19 that were on duty for last week's jinx-breaking win at Workington, but he is leaving it late to decide whether to select the same 17 that took to the pitch, with hooker Will Jubb and centre Perry Whiteley itching for recalls.

Either way, he has reiterated any success for his League One table-toppers is down to a squad effort.

"We're considering changes," said Ford when asked about altering a winning side for what is now the biggest game of the year - and potentially a season-defining one.

"We want to have a side that's the freshest and we're also considering Oldham's strengths and weaknesses.

"Changing a winning side doesn't really bother me - I've changed a few before now. If it's the same 17, then okay. If not, then okay."

On-loan Leeds prop Jack Ormondroyd is unavailable again so the pack remains unchanged - unless Whiteley goes into the back line and Joe Batchelor reverts to the second row.

Dual-reg duo Matty Marsh and Will Oakes retain their places, with no room for fit-again winger Judah Mazive.

Ford added: "Both Perry Whiteley and Will Jubb are deserving of places. They've trained really well. If they don't play this week, I imagine they'll play pretty soon.

"There are a number of really good players who will be disappointed not to be included. But they've all played a big part in what we've achieved so far and have a big role to play for the rest of the season.

"I've always maintained it's a squad competition and it's a squad effort that's got us to where we are at the minute, and that won't change."

Oldham, who need victory in their battle for the play-offs, have a plus and minus on the injury score.

Centre Danny Rasool is out after hurting a knee in last Sunday's 58-6 win over Coventry but full-back Kyran Johnson returns after shoulder trouble.

Also into the 19 come winger Dave Eccleston, centre Matt Reid, half-back Dave Hewitt and second-row Liam Bent, with winger Ben West and forward Luke Nelmes dropping out.

On the Roughyeds, Ford said: "They go really hard down the middle. They've got some big strong blokes and they're relentless with their approach.

"You have to make sure your line speed and contact is good, and you have to be good at defending the occasional 'loss' (in the ruck)."

Asked of their weaknesses, he replied: "I don't think they've got many. They're a good side. They're well-coached, aggressive, fit, and we'll need to be at our best.

"Oldham really are a top side in this division. It's a challenge for my team - but they'll be up for it."
