MALTON & Norton GC star David Hague is one of three Yorkshiremen named in the 11-man England squad for the upcoming Men’s Home Internationals.

England will take on Ireland, Scotland and Wales at Conwy Golf Club, Wales, from September 12 to 14 to regain the Raymond Trophy, which they last won at Ganton, Yorkshire, in 2013.

Ireland have been the champions since then – snatching victory from England last year by just half a game point.

Now a regular international, Hague, 22, helped England win the silver medal at the European men’s team championship and represented Great Britain & Ireland in the St Andrews Trophy.

The two other Yorkshiremen in the squad are Brabazon Trophy champion Nick Poppleton, 24, of Wath, and Bailey Gill, 21, from Lindrick.

The rest of the squad comprises: Jake Burnage, 23, of Devon; Ben Jones, 19, of Northamptonshire; David Langley, 24, of Berkshire; Joe Long, 21, of Gloucestershire; Tom Plumb, 19, of Dorset; Tom Sloman, 22, of Somerset; Mitch Waite, 23, of Gloucestershire; and Andrew Wilson, 24, of Durham.

The four teams will play in a round robin format, with five foursomes and 10 singles each day.
