WORKINGTON Town coach Leon Pryce wants his men to prove they can “do it against a top team” when York City Knights visit tomorrow.

The former Bradford Bulls player has said he is expecting League One leaders York to give as good a showing as the last time the sides met – but wants “something different” from Workington.

Pryce has previously admitted he was “embarrassed” as York “absolutely stuffed” Workington 40-8 at Bootham Crescent in June.

But having gotten a good 24-18 win at Bulls a fortnight ago, Pryce wants his side to give a good account of themselves once more.

Talking about Worky’s last trip to York, Pryce said: “Our boys gave in that day and we didn’t do ourselves justice.”

He added about Sunday’s fixture: “I’m expecting the same level of performance from York as they gave that day.

“But I want to see something different from our lads, to prove they can do it against a top team like they did against Bradford last time out.”

Workington are likely to go with the same team that won so impressively at Odsal a fortnight ago.

And the fixture will be a special day for Workington’s leading points scorer Carl Forber for whom Sunday will be his 250th appearance.

The 33-year-old stand-off has contributed 172 points for Workington this season, kicking 76 goals.

“To reach 250 games is a massive achievement,” Pryce said, “and to do it for Workington is a credit to him.

“For me coaching can be, and often is, very difficult but Buffer (Forber) is by far the easiest player I’ve worked with.

“He’s professional, looks after himself and does exactly what I ask of him. He’s a credit to himself and his family and I think he underrates himself sometimes.

“He’s very modest but he’s a really good player who has been around the block and is so reliable.”
