HEREFORD will be hoping to get back to winning ways at home against York City following the end of their seven-game victory streak at Edgar Street.

The Bulls lost 2-1 last Saturday to visitors Bradford Park Avenue, who became the first side to take any reward from a trip to Hereford since Kings Lynn’s 2-0 triumph back on March 10 in the Evo-Stik League south premier division.

Bradford’s win, meanwhile, represented rare back-to-back defeats for Peter Beadle’s men following a 1-0 loss at table-topping Chorley.

Previously, they had won the last ten matches of their title-winning campaign last term and kicked off this season with ten points from a possible 12.

Since dropping United from their name and reforming during 2015 in the Midland Football League, Hereford have won three consecutive championships and promotions.

As the Bulls’ director of youth football, Beadle had a spell as caretaker chief at the old United club after the departure of ex-City boss Martin Foyle in March 2014 and guided the club to a place above the Conference relegation zone despite mounting off-field problems.

The club were subsequently expelled from the Conference for financial irregularities, with reported debts of £1.3million and wound up midway through the 2014/15 Southern League season.

But the ex-Taunton, Newport and Clevedon chief subsequently become the first manager of the newly-formed club and swiftly led the team to a Midland League, League Cup and Herefordshire County Cup treble, while missing out on a historic quadruple after losing 4-1 to Morpeth Town in the 2016 FA Vase final at Wembley.

The Bulls’ subsequent success as seen the fans flock back to Edgar Street with this season’s average home attendance of 2,739 only bettered in the division by Stockport’s 3,456 and just ahead of Bootham Crescent’s 2,651.

Despite only netting five times in 30 National League outings for Chester last season, ex-Barnsley forward Harry White has taken well to life a league below by scoring four already for his new team.

Hereford currently lie tenth, but have a game in hand following Monday’s postponed fixture at Chester due to a waterlogged pitch.

A record of four goals conceded represents the best in the division behind Chorley, although Mike Symons (broken leg) will play no part against City with Jennison Myrie-Williams, Lewis Hall and Keyon Reffell also doubtful.
