TADCASTER Albion paid for another lacklustre display as they fell to a 3-0 Bank Holiday Monday defeat to Morpeth Town.

It was the Brewers' second home defeat from their two i2i Stadium outings this term, leaving them 16th in the early Evo-Stik League east division standings.

Taddy made two changes to the side that beat AFC Shildon 4-1 on Saturday in the FA Cup, with Mitch Langton and Chris Howarth coming in for Aiden Savory and Jason Mycoe.

The 2016 FA Vase winners, Morpeth, started on the front foot and it took just five minutes for Ben Sayer to fire wide of the mark after driving into space.

Albion responded three minutes on with an attempt of their own when Billy Whitehouse sent Josh Barrett's cross-field ball into the box for Pete Davidson to flick just over.

But the dominant visitors took a deserved lead on 17 minutes when Sean Taylor drilled into the back of the net after Michael Ingham saved the initial effort from Joe Walton.

Both teams were playing attractive football from the back, but it was Nicky Gray’s men who were causing all the problems with their nous continually breaking the hosts' midfield.

Assistant manager Simon Collins responded to Morpeth's threat with a formation change, which almost paid immediate dividends as Joe Lumsden crashed a header off the crossbar from a lovely Billy Whitehouse free-kick.

This was merely a glimmer for the home side though as Morpeth doubled their lead on the half-hour mark through Romanian Iulian Petrache, who pounced on a defensive mix-up to poke in.

Aiden Savory, last season’s top scorer, was thrown on at the break to inject some life into the Brewers, but to avail as the visitors increased their lead six minutes into the second half, when Ingham was foxed into tipping Sayer’s corner kick directly into the net.

This killer goal allowed Morpeth to play it safe, although Taddy winger Whitehouse was able to record Albion’s second effort on target, but it was straight down the throat of the Town stopper Daniel Lowson.

The Highwaymen were denied a fourth by Ingham's point-blank save before Taddy put together a neat one-touch passage of play on 80 minutes to almost tee up substitute Ellis Barkworth and Joe Lumsden nearly add a fifth goal in three games, having nutmegged Jeffrey Henderson, but Lowson was equal to the rare shot.

Pickering Town are yet to open their Evo-Stik account following Monday's 2-0 loss at Marske United.

Andrew May gave the hosts the lead in the 19th minute and Andrew Butterworth put the nail in the coffin with his finish five minutes after the break.

The Pikes sit second-bottom in the table, with only goal difference keeping them above Sheffield FC.

Neither team could claim bragging rights in the hotly-anticipated North Yorkshire derby match between promoted Scarborough Athletic and Whitby Town in the Evo-Stik premier division.

The 1-1 draw leaves Whitby fifth and Boro 11th in the table.

Former York City striker Michael Coulson gave the Seadogs an early lead but it was cancelled out by Junior Mondal, who became the first Whitby player to score in a league fixture against Scarborough.
